MALIBU, Fiji — The Dolphins say it’s time to end the speculation over whether or not they will sell a second team to Miami Beach.
Miami Mayor Tomas Garcia says he and Dolphins owner Stephen Ross have reached a tentative agreement to sell the team to the NFL for $1.5 billion.
The Dolphins and Ross have been in talks for months about a sale, but the two sides haven’t come to an agreement, Garcia said.
The NFL and the Dolphins have been at odds since the team relocated to Miami in 1993.
The team has been a perennial contender for the Super Bowl title in Miami, but has struggled financially.
Ross said last month that he will not pursue an extension of his contract that would have extended his current contract through 2021.
